By no means did our tribal hunter-gatherer ancestors have it easy. Due to their lack of technology, emergency medicine, and modern communication they endured countless hardships. However, they didn’t suffer from the chronic diseases of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and neuro-degenerative diseases, like Alzheimer’s and dementia that are at epidemic levels today.
Despite the fact that we’re in the midst of a connectivity golden age with social media and digital devices, we’re also experiencing the highest reported levels in human history of emotional/psychological disease, learning disabilities, and feelings of isolation and disconnection
For all of our technological advances, it can be argued that humans are digressing physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. In a sense, we’ve traded in our health and happiness for convenience, comfort, and things.
I’m not suggesting we destroy our devices, discard our possessions and move into the wilderness to become monks. What I do propose is that we benefit from integrating ancestral living practices into our modern lifestyle using the following tools that we all have at our disposal:
1. Nutrition - primal and ketogenic nutrition; mindful eating
2. Intermittent Fasting
3. Developing a personal self-awareness practice
4. Maximizing the regenerative powers of sleep
5. Breath work
6. The benefits of heat and cold and how to integrate it into a weekly practice
7. Communing with nature
8. Intentional regenerative practices
The Ancestral Reset isn’t a weight loss or ketogenic diet challenge. It’s a 10-week guided journey to discover your own evolutionary programming. The Ancestral Reset framework is a personal wellness experience that “resets” your metabolism, body composition, relationship with food and palate, present moment awareness and overall sense of wellness back to a new optimal baseline.
Yes, fat loss is a side effect of switching your fuel source from carbs to fat and ketones, and yes, there is a portion of the 10 weeks in which you’ll be eating a ketogenic diet in order to shepherd your metabolism into a more efficient state of fat adaption.
That said, my intentions for this program are far greater than a weight loss challenge.
We’ll guide you on an experiential journey to discover a new personal baseline of wellness - health, happiness, focus, energy, balance, strength, presence and resilience.
When it’s over, you’ll have the practical knowledge and awareness to remove the framework of the program and continue your journey with fluid responsiveness to life’s challenges. Methods that aren’t sustainable have little value, which is the reason I don’t consider this a “challenge” and don’t like the concept of challenges in general.
